The three lives of “Gimkhana”
“GIMKHANA” was born in June 2013, published with a irregular and totally improvised schedule on DeviantART. At the beginning, the story had no real design, it was a continuous improvisation and pure fun. It was exciting to find out what would happen page after page, and the characters were growing in a completely spontaneous but incongrous way ! The publication went on to about 200 pages and more, when I suddenly felt the need to rebuild it from scratch, this time it was serious, it needed a real programming and a real structured writing after that long experience of “going with the flow”.
The second life of “GIMKHANA” began in 2015 and ended in 2018, when the story found a new beginning and also its canon ending, published online, divided into 4 printed books and finally an omnibus! Still, although there was much more structure and study, many things had not received the right space, the right attention (because of the typical rush where you want to tell everything as soon as possible! ), leaving me happy and satisfied for a while, but soon after, while I was writing his sequel, I realized that… no: that wasn’t the story I wanted to tell, yet.
Now, you’re going to accompany the third (and really last) life of this story that, as a real person, has grown up and passed through a chaotic phase of childhood, grappling with improvisation and experimentation, a teenage life halfway between the awareness of existence and the total chaos of not knowing what to be or not to be, and now – hopefully! – an adult phase, with its dramas, its uncertainties, but a more decisive line on what to say !
